Grilled Cheeses and Cupcakes

During the week I hit up a couple of great tasting places with my close friend Buse. We enjoyed a couple of spots in Winter Park, Toasted and SmallCakes. If you love cheese and enjoy sweets then sit back, enjoy this read and right afterwards indulge into both.

First stop was a low key eatery by the name of 'Toasted.' They serve just about any type of grilled cheese you did not think of. I chose "As Gouda as it Gets" for myself. Swiss and Cheddar cheese move out the way, some smoked Gouda is here to take your taste buds hostage! It is a Dutch cheese that is mellow and yet a little sweet too. Perfect mix to the chicken, garlic spinach and red peppers all in between perfectly toasted and buttered bread. On the side I enjoyed some fries, fried in truffle oil and afterwards topped with fresh rosemary herbs. The fries have a fresh taste to them and the rosemary gives it the perfect balance with my already delicious sandwich. Another side I chose was the Mac and Cheese, totally creamy and great amount of cheesy to it, just the right portion too. The sandwich was only $6.75. The fries and Mac were both $2.50. My friend Buse grabbed the "Braised Brisket." In it was Fontina cheese, braised brisket, with a homemade BBQ sauce, topped with sweet tea caramelized onions. According to her it was amazing and a very nice texture to the meat, also not an overload of the cheese in it. This sandwich was $7.00. I washed mine down with an Original Mexican Coke, for those of you who do not know it is the best tasting Coca-Cola there is, it is in a glass bottle and very refreshing. I try to stay away from soda, but when I see it in the glass I can't help but to enjoy one with my meal once in a while. This place also includes burgers, salads and full Vegan and Gluten free menus. They can meet the needs of anyone wanting a great bite to eat, all meals are between $5.95 - $7.00 sides $2 - $3.75. They also include a special menu for the little ones.

Next stop was sweetness galore. Right next door is a cute bakery by the name of "SmallCakes." (Yes all together.) They were featured in The Food Network, The View, at The MTV Music Awards and Voted #1 place to grab a cupcake by USA Today. This adorable pink shop makes cakes and cupcakes of nearly any kind. They do special orders and also provide private tastings for upcoming events. We chose a little variety of cupcakes to enjoy. I have a nice description of three, I hope you all go and enjoy the others and pick your own too. We picked out Carrot cake, Cookies and Cream, German Chocolate, Almond Amaretto, Salted caramel, and Lemon vanilla. Cookies and cream had grated cookies on top of the cookies and cream icing, the cake was perfectly moist and fluffy every bite through. The Almond amaretto had a very distinct and mouth watering taste almost like like a almond milk with a kick to it, icing was very complimentary to the cake itself, also very moist and fluffy. Another was the lemon cupcake, it was a perfect mix of sweet and lightly sour. Had a nice fulfilling vanilla icing with a drop of lemon jelly on top, and on the inside was a vanilla cake with a center of lemon tart for the perfect balance. All six cakes were under $12 and worth every penny. Cole was great in assisting us with which cakes to pick out. I would come here time and time again, great variety and amazing quality of sweets.

Both of these places had perfect and helpful customer service. I enjoy going into eateries and being assisted in making choices when it's a new place, getting the right information on the products and being treated with respect and kindness. I hope that next time you all are in the mood for something cheesy or something sweet you swing into Toasted or Smallcakes. They are literally next door to each other so it makes it extremely convenient for you to go to both. I hope you all enjoyed this entry and even more I hope to get you out of the house and off to grab a bite to eat. In the next couple of weeks I will let you all into a bit of my personal life, I really appreciate all the support from you all thus far, and I want to let you all into a few of my hardships turned into blessings so maybe some of you all can either relate and get the push you need to overcome something or feel me on a more intimate level. Thank you all for staying tuned to my entries every Sunday and through the week.

Remember to always "Love and Allow to be Loved." xoxo
