The Sesh, Open Mic Night

We all find art in different places, I am one to find art in everything around me. One of my favorite though being that I enjoy to write, is poetry. Something beautiful about words being able to touch you, to take you to a place or make you put yourself in the artists shoes.

I met a dope young woman, Natalie via social media a couple of months ago. She had told me about #TheSesh. It is an open mic night that is held in Cafe Annie, located in Downtown Orlando every first Wednesday of the month. I am all for supporting locals especially my fellow women. She is a very talented poet that hosts this event for other artists to share their creativity. She has a blog herself by the name of redlipstikandhiphop.com where she shares a lot of her art. Nothing compares to listening to her live though.

The event usually starts about 830-9pm, it is just $5 to get in, and it is open for anyone 18+. They also have a bar to grab a few drinks if you want to totally unwind. I loved the vibes of the whole spot. Everyone is there to listen to live art, network, and relax all while doing it. The host is a great sport, funny and energetic. They usually have an after party at Loud which is right up the street, it is a hookah lounge with great music choice too. It is always amazing to be around supportive people that have similar interests as you.

If you are an artist yourself I will provide Natalie's information to contact her about a slot in the next event. Show off your talents locally, you never know who can be in the crowd and what opportunities can come about. Also helps to shake off some stage fright you may have. Everyone is the crowd is positive, we all understand how much heart it takes to showcase your art infront of so many people that you don't know. Contact me if you have any questions.

The next open mic will be held January 6th, 2016. Bring the year in with some written art and cool people.
