Glass Perfection Museum

If you are someone who enjoys glass art, details of 19th century perfection, and some new knowledge, then this is the place for you.

On Friday night, I had a solo date aka getting out alone to enjoy myself and an activity of my choosing. I strolled into The Charles Hosmer Museum of American Art in Winter Park, Florida. Their pricing is already very low and affordable, $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, $1 for students with proof of ID and free for children 12 and under. BUT for my super budgeted followers like myself, you are in luck. Every Friday night 4pm-8pm up until April you get the pleasure of going to the museum FREE of charge. Who can't appreciate timeless art being viewed for free? I know I do and DID!

A little about the museum, many are familiar with the jewelry firm Tiffany&Co. Well Louis Comfort Tiffany was the son of Tiffany & Co. founder Charles Tiffany. "Tiffany did not follow his father into this retail line of business. He was an artist and his companies had various names through the years, before 1902, it was mainly Tiffany Glass and Decorating Company, and after 1902, Tiffany Studios. The son was highly successful. Consider the 1893 Tiffany chapel for example, and the Four Seasons panels for the 1900 Paris world’s fair. It was only after his father died in 1902 that Louis Tiffany became involved in Tiffany & Co. as creative director and introduced a line of 'art jewelry'. The two companies were always separated though his father’s clout and business network helped Louis to further his own ambitions."(Director of Public Affairs and Publications Catherine Hinman) Tiffany made a legacy that would outlive him and continue to be some of the best art known. He was known for this breathtaking glass work. From windows, to wine cabinets, to vases, to glass chandeliers and lamps. His art was limitless and perfected. The time he put into his work is seen and appreciated by many. They have more artist in the museum to study and admire. Now they do have a strict no pictures policy which is understandable, the art should be remembered mentally, not frozen in a phone or a camera. Take it in while you are there, embrace it, study it, and try to understand it. So sorry to the Instagram and Snapchat lovers, you will just have to tell your followers to go enjoy it for themselves.

I want to personally thank the staff for the great hospitality, especially Charles and Eddie. They were very knowledgeable of the art, and it's history. Hope to hear everyone's rewarding visit to the American Art museum. Please do not hesitate to contact myself or the museum for any questions. Remember to allow yourself out of your home, out of your regular cycles, but more importantly to always love and allow to be loved. xoxo
